Richard T. Herrick, M.D.


Richard T. Herrick, M.D., was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia, and was educated at the University of Notre Dame and West Virginia University School of Medicine. He interned at Brackenridge Hospital, Austin,Texas and completed his Orthopaedic Residency at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dr. Herrick is a fellowship-trained hand surgeon. He did his hand training in Louisville, Kentucky with Drs. Kleinert and Kutz and in New Orleans at the Oschsner Clinic, with Dr. Gordon McFarland, and Dr. Harry Morris, one of the original icons of the Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. Dr. Herrick has been in private practice for 27 years in the Auburn, Alabama and Greater Atlanta areas, specializing in surgery of the hand and upper extremity, foot and ankle, including arthroscopic surgery and reconstruction, fractures, nerve and tendon injuries and repetitive use injuries.

Dr. Herrick is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the International College of Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine. Dr. Herrick is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of the American Society of Surgery of the Hand and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. He published numerous articles in medical journals, and made many national and international presentations, relating to hand and upper extremity surgery.

Dr. Herrick joined the practice in 2003. He and his wife, Stella, live in Pinellas County and have three adult children and two grandchildren.
